Travis AFB project profile

The 60th Contracting Squadron, stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California, manages contracts for critical base operations, including maintenance, transportation, and construction. To enhance communication capabilities, the squadron partnered with EIDIM to fully upgrade
the wing conference room located at 400 Brennan Circle.

Project Description

This project involves the Engineering, Furnishing, Installation, and Testing (EFI&T) of a fully upgraded Secure and Non-Secure Video Teleconferencing (VTC) and Audio Visual (AV) system for the wing conference room at Travis Air Force Base. The system upgrade includes a state-of-the-art video wall array consisting of 12 displays with a 0.94mm pixel pitch and dimensions close to 196″ W x 75.5″ H, providing immersive visual capabilities. Additional components include audio distribution, a Crestron 10.1” touch panel control system integrated with existing panels, matrix video distribution, video processing, equipment racks, and noise masking solutions. Enhanced camera zoom functionality will ensure detailed video conferencing for participants at the conference table.

The system will connect seamlessly to both classified (SIPRNet) and unclassified (NIPRNet) networks, complying with Air Force and Department of Defense Information Assurance (IA) regulations. The project also includes removal of old equipment, system design, project management, programming, testing, commissioning, end-user training, and warranty provisions, resulting in a secure and fully functional VTC/AV system tailored to mission-critical needs.

Technologies and Solutions Used:

Secured Video Teleconferencing (VTC) System

The VTC system supports secure communication over NIPRNet and SIPRNet, enabling simultaneous display of local and remote participants, presentation slides, and multiple video sources. It features split-screen functionality, dynamic source configuration, and an intuitive touch-panel control system for seamless operation, ensuring a secure and efficient collaboration environment.

Advanced Display and Camera System

The 12-panel video wall with a 0.94mm pixel pitch delivers Ultra High-Definition visuals, supporting multiple screen configurations and content sources such as laptops and cable TV. An integrated Ultra-HD camera provides smooth pan, tilt, and zoom functions, including precise close-ups and adaptive speed controls, ensuring optimal video clarity during conferences.

Integrated Audio and Control Systems

The audio system delivers consistent, clear communication with advanced noise elimination features, ensuring all participants are heard effectively. A Crestron touch-panel control system offers centralized management of VTC calls, volume, screen configurations, and camera operations, with multiple access points for flexibility and ease of use.

Project Outcome

The upgraded Video Teleconferencing (VTC) and Audio Visual (AV) system has significantly enhanced the functionality and efficiency of the conference room. The new 12-panel video wall delivers stunning visuals, while the advanced VTC system ensures seamless communication over networks. Integrated audio and control systems provide clear sound and intuitive operation, enabling effortless management of calls, presentations, and video conferencing. This comprehensive upgrade ensures the conference room is equipped for seamless decision-making, supporting secure, high-quality collaboration for all the base personnel.
