Marine Air Control Group 48 Project profile
The 4th Marine Aircraft Wing is the United States Marine Corps reserve airwing.
They conduct air operations in support of the Fleet Marine Forces and participate as an integral component of Naval Aviation in executing such other Navy functions as directed. To improve their communication with the members of the US Marine Corps, the requirement to upgrade the existing audio-visual (AV) and video teleconferencing (VTC) system for the MACG-48 and MTACS-48 led to this partnership with EIDIM.
Project Description
This project involves the design, installation, and integration of advanced Audio-Visual (AV) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems in the Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 48 (MTACS-48) Battle Lab (Room 240) and the Marine Air Control Group 48 (MACG-48) Conference Room (Room 161).
The MTACS-48 Battle Lab will feature a 14′ x 6′ seamless 4K UHD LED video wall with split-screen capabilities, supported by four 65″ and one 98″ wall-mounted Slim 4K UHD display. The system integrates 16 HDMI laptop inputs, ceiling-mounted speakers, and microphones for high-quality audio. A 10″ touch panel control interface will enable centralized management of power, video, audio, and configuration settings.
The MACG-48 Conference Room upgrade focuses on secure communication and adaptability. It includes SIPR VTC and Microsoft Teams integration with split-screen functionality, classified and unclassified briefing signage, and dual 85″ Slim 4K UHD displays. Additional features include a wide-angle auto-tracking conference camera, four HDMI laptop inputs, a gooseneck push-to-talk microphone, and ceiling-mounted audio components. Dual 10″ touch panels provide seamless control of system settings, including audio, video, and briefing modes. Comprehensive deliverables, including as-built system diagrams and system source code, will ensure transparency and ease of future modifications.
The MTACS-48 / MACG-48 upgrade modernized the Battle Lab and Conference Room with new 4K displays, a seamless LED video wall, improved audio pickup, multiple HDMI inputs, and streamlined touch-panel control. The additions also introduced secure SIPR VTC and Microsoft Teams capability, creating a more efficient, mission-ready environment for briefings, collaboration, and command operations.
Technologies and Solutions Used:
Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) Video Teleconferencing System
This project integrates SIPR appliances and applications with advanced AV components to ensure secure and efficient communication of classified information. The system includes high-definition displays, strategically placed in-room speakers, ceiling microphones for clear audio capture, and high-resolution cameras with auto-tracking capabilities. These components are seamlessly integrated within the SIPRNet infrastructure, providing secure transmission while maintaining exceptional audio-visual quality. The upgrade also features a centralized control interface for easy operation, ensuring the system meets all the security standards while enhancing usability and meeting efficiency.
Project Outcome
Following the completion of the upgrades to the Audio-Visual System of the City Council Chamber, the venue now boasts enhanced capabilities to support regular public meetings. The integration of LED displays, microphones, video switchers, scan converters, distribution amplifiers, and other essential equipment ensures improved communication and presentation quality. This comprehensive enhancement facilitates a more efficient and engaging environment for council members and attendees alike, contributing to more productive and transparent public proceedings.
