In September 2024, EIDIM Group Inc. was selected to upgrade the microphone system in the largest meeting room of the Davis Conference Center (DCC) auditorium. The previous setup included 100 base unit microphones, which were replaced and expanded to 170 microphones across multiple seating locations. At the core of this transformation was the integration of Televic Conference’s advanced audio solutions, which significantly improved the clarity, reliability, and functionality of the space.

The upgrade prominently featured the Televic D-Mic 40 SL and D-Mic 50 SL Directional Microphones, renowned for their high-performance audio pickup and user-friendly design. These microphones include a removable gooseneck with a screw-lock connector for secure and flexible installation. Their unidirectional cardioid pickup pattern is engineered to perform exceptionally well in noisy environments, ensuring rich, natural sound that reduces listener fatigue. Additionally, the built-in LED ring provides real-time visual status, which goes red for active, green for request, and dark when muted, allowing seamless user interaction.

Complementing the tabletop microphones was the integration of the Televic Confidea FLEX, a sleek, all-in-one tabletop conference unit featuring a 5.2-inch capacitive touchscreen. This unit provides intuitive controls and customizable functionality, supporting roles such as delegate, chairperson, or dual user. Designed for flexibility and ease of use, it also offers advanced features like voting, identification, interpretation, and Bluetooth audio capabilities (via license), along with NFC card-based identification and accessibility options for visually impaired users. The unit includes a high-quality speaker, dual headphone outputs, haptic feedback, and a microphone resistant to mobile interference, making it a dynamic and future-ready solution. The Confidea FLEX connects easily into the Plixus® network, allowing hot-swapping and daisy-chaining with hidden cabling for a clean, efficient installation.

To support the microphones, EIDIM also utilized Televic’s Confidea F-BOX_MIC and Confidea F-Box_MF_PBTN components. The F-BOX_MIC features a high-quality D-MIC screw-lock connector with a 1.2-meter cable, offering excellent audio reliability and corrosion resistance. The F-Box_MF_PBTN is a capacitive touch button module with LED indicators and a 1.2-meter cable, enabling clear, intuitive user functions such as voting or microphone status control. These modules allowed for discreet under-table installations, enhancing the functionality of the microphones while maintaining a streamlined aesthetic.

The heart of the system’s custom integration was the Televic Confidea F-BOX, a compact audio interface that enables full connectivity for microphones, headphones, loudspeakers, and voting buttons. Designed for hidden or under-table installations, the F-BOX connects directly to the Plixus® network using a single CAT 5e cable, supporting 24-bit/48 kHz high-quality audio. With multiple embedded ports, LED status indicators, and software-based configuration options, the F-BOX provided the flexibility and performance required for a modern, high-demand conferencing environment. 

This comprehensive upgrade resulted in a noticeable transformation in the DCC auditorium’s audio quality and user experience. Ernest K.
