At the beginning of 2024, EIDIM Group Inc., a leader in audiovisual system integration, was selected to deliver a full-scale AV and control system upgrade for the City of El Cajon. This critical infrastructure project focused on three high-impact areas, the Community Room, Training Room, and Communications Center, to support essential city functions such as public meetings, training sessions, emergency coordination, and 911 dispatch operations.

Centralized AV Control with Crestron 4-Series™

To ensure consistent, reliable, and secure control across all rooms, EIDIM integrated Crestron’s 4-Series™ control processors, including the RMC4 and CP4 models. These enterprise-grade AV control systems deliver powerful automation and seamless integration with audio, video, lighting, and environmental systems, making them ideal for government AV solutions.

Crestron RMC4: Compact Control for Focused Spaces

The Crestron RMC4 was deployed in the training room and communication center with focused AV needs. This compact control processor supports up to 10 simultaneous programs and offers robust connectivity via Ethernet, RS-232, IR, relay, Cresnet®, and digital I/O ports. It enabled secure and flexible management of AV systems, room lighting, and other connected devices, all from a user-friendly interface or mobile device.

With PoE support and 802.1X network access control, the RMC4 also meets strict IT and cybersecurity standards, making it a perfect fit for secure government environments.

Crestron CP4: Scalable Control for Multi-Use Rooms

For the larger and more dynamic environment of the Community Room, EIDIM implemented the Crestron CP4, a rack-mounted control processor with expanded connectivity and high-speed performance. The CP4 enables centralized AV system management through gigabit Ethernet, Cresnet®, USB, RS-232, IR, relays, and Versiport I/O.

With support for Crestron Fusion® and XiO Cloud®, the city’s IT team can monitor, schedule, and manage AV devices remotely, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing maintenance downtime.

Smart Building Integration and Security

Both systems provide native BACnet support for seamless integration with building management systems (BMS) such as HVAC and lighting controls. Additionally, SNMP V3 support, Apple® HomeKit® integration, and IPv6 readiness make this solution scalable and future-ready.

All equipment meets Crestron’s enhanced security standards, offering advanced encryption and access control features including Active Directory®, SSH, TLS, and HTTPS, ensuring full compliance with modern IT policies.

Thanks to these strategic AV upgrades led by EIDIM Group, the City of El Cajon now operates with a modernized AV infrastructure that improves communication, streamlines emergency response workflows, and enhances training and public engagement efforts.
