Eglin afb project profile

Eglin Air Force Base, located in the Florida Panhandle, is one of the largest and most strategically important Air Force installations in the United States. It serves as a major center for testing, training, and mission support. The 96th Logistics Readiness Squadron provides essential logistical services—managing transportation, supplies, and deployment readiness for base personnel and operations. The squadron supports daily coordination activities vital to sustaining mission preparedness and operational continuity across the installation.

Project Description

EIDIM Group designed and delivered a mission-ready audiovisual modernization for the 96th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base. The scope centered on replacing outdated sound reinforcement and presentation equipment with a fully integrated command-grade AV environment anchored by a 3×3 ultra-narrow bezel video wall measuring roughly 12 feet wide by 6.75 feet tall. The upgraded solution supports daily briefings, VTC sessions, remote collaboration, and high-clarity visual command displays over the base’s Non-Classified Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) network. All new hardware was fully engineered to coexist with existing infrastructure—two preinstalled projection screens, projectors, and government-furnished peripherals—while significantly expanding the room’s audiovisual capabilities.

The Challenge

The existing system was constrained by limited signal routing flexibility, aging audio hardware, and no unified means of managing multiple sources. The room required a modernized system that could manage both base-networked and walk-up laptop inputs without interrupting classified workflows or breaching cybersecurity protocols. The refresh also needed to maximize visual performance without sacrificing clear lines of sight or ADA walkway tolerances, and it had to be executed under DoD-level compliance standards, including UC APL, IPV6 readiness, MIL-STD asset tagging, TAA sourcing, and Energy Star mandates. The environment demanded zero downtime to routine operations and a seamless transition from the legacy system to a new, turnkey platform.

Technologies and Solutions Used:

3×3 Ultra Narrow Bezel Video WallThe new NEC 55” video wall replaced fragmented single screen presentation methods with a continuous display surface that delivers command level visibility across the room. Its large format allows multiple content windows to be shown at once, dramatically improving clarity and situational awareness for personnel.

Existing Projector Integration
The upgraded platform works in tandem with the preinstalled projector screens, enabling presenters to route content to either the video wall or projection surfaces as needed. This adds flexibility and allows the room to support both primary briefing visuals and secondary information displays without reconfiguration.

Digital AV Matrix SwitcherA centralized digital switching backbone now manages every source in the room, replacing manual connectivity and cable swapping with secure and reliable routing. This upgrade ensures clean transitions between networked devices, walk-up laptops, and mission media without signal degradation or delays.

Dual 10.1” Touch Control Panels
Two wall-mounted touch panels positioned at the front and rear of the room provide intuitive multi-point access for presenters. Complex backend operations are simplified into preset-based controls, allowing non-technical personnel to operate the system with confidence and without assistance.

DSP Driven Speaker and Subwoofer SystemThe new digital audio processor distributes sound evenly through thirty-two ceiling loudspeakers and ceiling-mounted subwoofers, delivering full-range clarity across the entire seating area. This replaces uneven analog amplification with consistent speech intelligibility for mission briefings and operator communications.

Digital Wireless Microphone Suite
Secure handheld and lapel microphones provide accurate voice capture for presenters and leadership staff. The wireless ecosystem enhances mobility, improves clarity, and supports uninterrupted briefings without the interference or audio dropouts associated with older equipment.

Project Outcome

The completed installation transformed the space into a high-functioning briefing and collaboration asset for the squadron. Presenters can now initiate sessions within seconds, toggle between networked and local devices without navigating hidden menus, and maintain uninterrupted audio clarity across the room. The video wall dramatically enhances situational awareness for command updates and real-time visual reporting, while the upgraded DSP architecture ensures intelligible speech distribution across the seated area.

This project delivered not only a technical upgrade, but an operational uplift—elevating the facility from a conventional presentation room into a mission-aligned collaboration environment engineered for readiness, speed of information sharing, and long-term maintainability.

“On behalf of our unit, we thank you for a job well done. The entire EIDIM team exceeded our expectations. The work completed in this area leaves a lasting outstanding impression and will be enjoyed foryears to come.”
