City of Diamond Bar Project profile

A suburban city in Los Angeles County, California, Diamond Bar is home to approximately 56,000 residents. The city offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles while maintaining a high quality of life. As part of its commitment to modernization and enhanced community services, the City of Diamond Bar partnered with EIDIM Group to upgrade and install new audio-visual and production control systems for its Windmill and Willow Rooms, along with other appurtenant improvements.

Project Description

EIDIM performed a comprehensive upgrade of the AV and production control systems across multiple rooms within the City of Diamond Bar’s civic facilities. This included the Windmill Room, Willow Room, AV Control Room, Broadcast Control Room, Lobby Area, and Server Room. The upgrades involved the removal of outdated components and the installation of new equipment such as Vaddio RoboSHOT cameras, Crestron touch panels, DM-NVX decoders, wireless microphones, ceiling speakers, and press panels. A new Cablecast video server, live streaming systems, and Blackmagic webstreaming devices were also added to the Broadcast Control Room, which remained operational throughout the process.

The infrastructure was supported by a wide range of AV cabling, including shielded Cat6, star quad audio cables, fiber optics, mini-RG59 coax, and professional-grade HDMI and DisplayPort cables. Concept diagrams and GUI design protocols were followed to ensure seamless system integration, reliability, and user-friendly controls.

The City of Diamond Bar Audio-Visual and Production Control Room Systems Upgrade Project focused on modernizing the city’s civic facilities with state-of-the-art AV and production control systems. The comprehensive upgrade included the Windmill Room, Willow Room, Broadcast Control Room, AV Control Room, and supporting areas. The project featured the installation of advanced equipment such as Vaddio RoboSHOT cameras, Crestron touch panels, wireless microphones, ceiling speakers, and a Cablecast video server.

Rooms with Upgraded av

Willow Room

The Willow Room will also receive updated AV infrastructure, mirroring parts of the Windmill Room’s scope. Floor and wall input plates will be replaced with Crestron DigitalMedia Transmitters, with new shielded Cat6 runs to the Windmill AV Control Room. The existing touch panel and projector will be replaced, and a new Crestron DM-NVX decoder will be installed. Two wireless antenna units will be added, and existing ceiling speakers will be configured into a single audio zone controlled via the touch panel. All cabling will be run to the server room and connections made per the system diagrams.

Windmill AV Control Room

This control room will retain its existing vertical wall-mounted equipment rack, with all current equipment removed except for the assisted listening transmitter and power controller. New equipment will be installed, including Shure, Extron, Biamp, Tascam, Crestron, QSC, and Tripp Lite components. A wireless touch panel, HDMI, and balanced audio feed to the existing mixer, and patch panel connections to the server room will be added. The system will be integrated according to the provided concept diagrams, with new Cat6 cable runs completed throughout.

Lobby Area

Two Crestron DM-NVX decoders will be installed behind the existing NEC 65” displays, connected via Cat6 to the server room and configured for both HDMI and RS-232 control. Additional Cat6 cable runs will be installed, and all connections will adhere to the concept diagrams.

Broadcast Control Room

The Broadcast Control Room will remain operational during the upgrade process. New systems include a Cablecast video server, video-on-demand, live streaming services, and a Blackmagic webstreaming device. The existing rack will be replaced with a new two-bay system, populated with both new and existing equipment. The control system will center around the Vaddio AV Bridge Matrix Mix and SDI Matrix Router for redundancy. A repurposed production console will be equipped with production monitors, a camera controller, an audio mixer, JBL monitors, and a KVM switch. Existing wall displays will be removed and replaced with a new 55” monitor, and all system connections and fiber runs will be completed per the diagrams.

Project Outcome

The upgraded AV systems significantly enhanced the functionality and usability of the Windmill and Willow Rooms, transforming them into versatile, modern spaces capable of supporting public meetings, events, and live broadcasts. The new control systems allow for streamlined operation, high-quality audio-visual performance, and secure technician access. The Broadcast Control Room now supports video-on-demand and live streaming, expanding the city’s communication capabilities.

The integration of premium hardware and structured cabling, along with carefully designed user interfaces, ensures long-term system reliability and ease of use for both city staff and external users. Overall, the project modernized Diamond Bar’s presentation and communication infrastructure, aligning it with current technological standards and future needs.
